November 28th - Tiny Tink has been updated

I know it's been a while since I've updated the page, but I've been kind of out of the loop. I'm going to try to do much better in the new year (which is right around the corner).

My secondary web page, which is my Tiny Tink Affiliate Page, I update much more frequently. Mainly because if I don't, this ole retired individual doesn't make much in the way of sales to help pay the bills. *L*

Right now, the merchants I am affiliated with are having some major blow-out sales, especially Wal-Mart. So many as a matter of fact, I'm seriously considering making a separate page just for them. If you think this is a better way to go, rather than to have all the merchants listed on one master sheet, send me an email and let me know. I can be reached at Macavity

The XWPVS Remembers 9-11 2001
NEVER FORGET!

The Sky was blue, clear with not a cloud in site. It was a perfect September morning...until the flight 11 - American Airlines - hit the North tower of the World Trade Center at 8:46 a.m. and another United Airlines flight 175 hit the South tower at 8:52 a.m.
Three thousand lives were lost between the two towers, 343 Fire Fighters - first responders entering the towers to rescue civilians - lost their lives when the towers collapsed, 100 lost their lives at the Pentagon, and 40 on flight 93 - The flight that fought back against the terrorists -in Shanksville, PA. Many Who worked at ground zero are suffering health issues and fifty five have died due to 911 related illnesses after working at ground zero.
We should never forget the victims or the heroes of 9/11.
Never forget this day. It is the day the United States of America was attacked by the Islamist militant group al-Qaeda! It was a day when thousands of innocent lives were snuffed out by an act of war! A day when heroes died.
And although Osama bin Laden has been found and killed, it doesn't mean it's over. Someone else has surely taken his place.
I understand there is a plan to build a Mosque near ground zero, if not within it... and if this is so, it is my opinion that in no way should a mosque be erected within the vicinity of this atrosity! And if a mosque is built, then each denomination should have a place of worship established all around ground zero!

If you look closely, you can see the other plane is circling to make its attack!

Below you will read a few of the memories some readers cared to share with the XWPVS...
I was in the bathroom at St. John's University. A girl had heard that a plane hit the twin towers. Nobody thought it was terrorism initially. Not until the 2nd one hit. I could see the towers from our campus. Lots of people panicked, but some were joking around. It was odd. I was worried about my parents that worked in the city. Thankfully a friend of mine was able to take me home. My mother had to walk home. She said everyone was very quiet & somber walking over the bridge home. To this day, I get nightmares. Actually had one last night. It was so real. It creeps up every now & then. Still feels like just yesterday. Almost unreal.

I was at work and down in the coffee shop getting some breakfast when I heard about the first plane hitting the tower. My initial thought was someone lost control of their plane and flew into the tower by accident. When I got back upstairs, I turned on my radio and heard about the second attack. Right then I thought it was deliberate. Someone turned on the TV in the common room and several of us watched in horror as the news replayed the two crashes. Shortly after that, we were told to go home. When I walked in the front door, my parents were watching the news showing what had happened. We also found out about the Pentagon and the plane that went down in Pittsburgh. I guess disbelief and horror were the two most prevalent emotions. How could someone do that, murder innocent people. Later on, anger surfaced at those responsible. Much later, I remember feeling pride in the way Americans reacted, how the first responders gave their lives to help people. I especially felt for the people on the plane near Pittsburgh, what bravery to save others at the cost of their own lives. I don't think our lives have ever been the same since 9/11. I know one thing, those fanatics who think they will be honored by Allah are in for a rude shock. They certainly won't be spending eternity in Paradise.

I was at work at Gleason.
My first reaction was disbelief.
When the 2nd plane hit, I thought this is not just a freak accident.
It was as if it was a dream to see the building just engulf the plane like it was Nothing. It was hard to imagine! Then it was like what must all those people be thinking and feeling. The panic and chaos must of been surreal! It all was like a movie and hard to really grasp what was going on or why someone would do such a thing??

My remembrance of 9/11:
My husband and I were actually still in bed (my husband was about to get up to prepare to go to work) when my step son phoned from out of state to tell us to turn on the television, something horrible was happening. I'd never heard such terror and upset in my stepson's voice before. We stayed on the phone with him, and were both appalled to see the twin towers in flames as the news came on, it was, of course, on all channels. We were in total shock, afraid of what else was happening in our country and to our people. My husband and I, and my stepson on the phone, all started crying as one.
Friends and other family members also called and shared the same feelings. We invited a friend who lived in another county to join us at our home as she was worried there would be an overall atomic attack on the country, and was deeply afraid. I asked my husband to stay home from work, as I didn't want anything to happen to him on the highway, nor did I want to be alone at such a devastating time. He didn't want to leave me either, as really, he was much too upset to go to work and we always react to things as one.
The world seemed to stop as we watched and listened to the news all that day, saddened and horrified by what was unfolding across the country and in the different areas affected. At the same time, though, we felt love and gratitude to the brave first responders and other heroes of that unforgettable and awful day, as well as love and empathy for all who were affected throughout the country. So many people lost their lives that day, not only our fellow Americans, but people who hailed from all around the world. It is a day that will never be forgotten.

JANUARY 28, 2011

It's never fun when ones computer dies. It's even worse when the computer techs tell you that the hard drive is totally fried and nothing can be retrieved. And that's what happened here. Totally sucks, but what can one do? Other than to make sure they've got plenty of their material backed up.

So, right now it's like starting all over. Just what one needs to start off the New Year. A brand new computer with an updated windows program that you have to learn... Joy! *L* So, here I am, with a new computer, a new version of windows, trying to figure out why my editing this page put in so many weird characters that I had to go in and manually remove, and a migrain. Anyone have an Extra Strength Tylenol? *L*

All in all though, it's been interesting. Learning a new system, finding your Xena files, realizing you didn't back any up on CD's but disks, and then realizing the new computer you purchased only has a CD drive... As Charlie Brown would say, "Good Grief!" Oh well, when I get some dinars together, I'll get the computer upgraded with a couple of extra drives. In the meantime, little area looks like something out of a bad Sci-Fi movies. *L* So, if things aren't showing up on these pages, please email me and let me know. I'm sure my email address is SOMEWHERE on these pages, I'm just hoping the page is working. Hey, why should I be the only one having to search for stuff? *L*

Another thing I've had to learn is how to receive my emails from my affiliates so that I can pass on their specials on my Tiny Tink Affiliate Page. I don't know what I did, but whatever it was, I'm receiving their emails again, so I can pass on that information to you, the shopper. Which reminds me, Thank you so much for shopping with me! :) And if you see weird character in here, let me know that too because my eyes are old and I might not have caught everything. They'd look something like this \f0 or something.

Toodles for now.

May you all have a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year! ((hugs))

Mac
